WINONA FIGHTER GAVE PHILADELPHIA A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
The lights flashed and the bass shaked with the energetic crowd as Winona Fighter made their mark during their first ever show in Philadelphia at The Foundry on The Yes Chef Tour. The 450-capacity venue was filled with fans from the area, as well as those who traveled into the city just to see the band perform their debut record My Apologies To The Chef , which was released in February of this year under Rise Records.

Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Winona Fighter consists of frontwoman Coco Kinnon, lead guitarist Dan Fuson and bassist/producer Austin Luther. Since their first EP release, Father Figure, the band has proven themselves as an integral part of the pop-punk scene with their insanely contagious energy which translates from recordings directly to the stage.
As the lights began to dim, signaling that show time was near, the crowd started to roar, not able to contain their excitement as their favorite songs were seconds away from being played live. Once the band took the stage, it was extremely clear the night was going to be a special one. Opening up with their hit song “You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers” the crowd went wild. Everyone in the room was dancing and singing along — it was impossible not to.
With her irresistible stage presence, Kinnon captivated the crowd with not only her voice, but her ability to interact and make everyone in the room feel like they were right at the front row. Fuson gives everything he has to his craft, singing along to every song and happily interacting with the crowd, which makes it evident to all that he loves what he’s doing. The band's chemistry is palpable, and watching the rockers laugh with each other and sing forehead to forehead, you can tell that this is what their purpose is in life: to make music together and share it with the world. The show was electric, making it an absolute ball to photograph.
The community that Winona Fighter has created through their music is one that is not afraid to express themselves, especially when they are in a room with like-minded folks. Kinnon made it a point to acknowledge the hardships that our country and our world are facing and to let their songs be a way to release those frustrations. The entire set was extremely powerful, and Winona Fighter are a band that you must see live if you love to dance and scream their frustrations away.
