While fans of all ages and backgrounds fill the Crescent Ballroom, the lines for the bar start to form. Soon most of the audience had a beer in hand, ready for Good Neighbours to take the stage.

Good Neighbours is composed of Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, two musicians from East London who formed an indie-pop duo. In 2024, they released their first song “Home” which put them on the map thanks to its TikTok success. In 2025, Good Neighbours completed 125 shows which is quite an accomplishment. The band released their debut album Blue Sky Mentality this fall and just finished their first US headline tour. Nicky Youre joined them as their opener for this past leg where Crave Music had the opportunity to attend as press.

Nicky Youre released his first song in 2022, called “Sunroof,” and it instantly became a trending song on Tik Tok. As of 2025, the song has hit over 1 billion streams on Spotify alone. This past month he released his debut album What’s The Big Deal?. Joining Nicky Youre on tour are Matty Michna (guitarist), Ben Hilzinger (drummer), Joey Farber (bassist), and Chance Famighetti (keyboardist).

During the show, Nicky Youre explained that his first song was the one to blow up;that sudden success was difficult for him to manage. He went to therapy after battling depression which helped him navigate his sudden rise to fame. After learning ways to effectively cope with his new reality, he was able to find his true place in the music world, indie alt.

His new album What’s The Big Deal? is a project he really resonates with and felt good making which is apparent as he plays these songs live. He explained to the audience that these new songs were inspired by a girl he met on Hinge, eventually revealing that she is his girlfriend and is on tour with him.

The second to last song Youre performed was his hit song “Sunroof” which got everyone singing along and moving along to the infectious chorus; bringing a sense of nostalgia from a few years prior. He ended the set with “Light Me Up,” a song that the whole band really got into. Chance even put his feet up on his keyboard for the ending notes.

Nicky’s set was a very fun one to watch and it felt like being in a small dive bar, like the song “Lucky (Dive Bar Funeral)” hints at. The energy, although very high, was more subdued and allowed for the music to shine through. It was very clear that he was having a fun time on the road promoting his album with his bandmates. The fans that filled the Crescent Ballroom and in venues across the US will definitely be excited to see what Nicky Youre releases next. Even his merch was super thoughtful and creative, leaning into the I <3 NY theme.

As the stage was prepped for Good Neighbours, “Houdini” by Foster The People blasted through the speakers. Good Neighbours opened for Foster The People earlier this year on their Paradise State of Mind US tour. As fans waited, they socialized with each other, friends and strangers, and there was a sense of calm and community in the Crescent Ballroom.

Finally the lights dim and Good Neighbours runs on stage, opening with “Suburbs”. Green lights dance around as the band sets the high energy for the night. For the entire hour-long set, the crowd was in motion. People were jumping, swaying, and dancing to every single song. It was definitely one of the most energetic and fun shows I have ever attended. Everyone was singing every word, despite most songs being recently released. Although excited fans were recording their favorite memories of the night, it seemed as though most were living in the moment. There was a very obvious energy of people wanting to experience their favorite band with the people around them. Making eye contact while singing along and dancing, desperate for these memories to last in their minds forever.

This show reminded me of the culture of shows in London, with an emphasis on people slowing down a bit and just enjoying the night with their loved ones. It was noticeably less competitive and relaxed in the crowd compared to most shows I attend in the US. It was a very fun and unique experience to see the slower side of things despite the energy being incredibly high.

During “Walk Walk Walk” the duo asks the whole crowd to get as low as they possibly can. Every band member and fan excitedly participates, knowing this moment will be one they won’t forget. Oli then explains that when the beat drops everyone will jump. Despite there being limited space in this sold out venue, everyone was on their feet and dancing to the rest of their favorite song.

Good Neighbours announce they are playing their last song “Keep it Up” and thank everyone for coming as the song finishes. The crowd then starts getting even louder and cheering for just one more song. The band came back to play the encore to end the night with “Home,” a song that had every voice in the venue harmonizing with the band. It was such a pure moment and so loud that it gave me chills. It was a beautiful song to experience live. The band then ended their set with “Daisies.” Oli stood on the drum kit, practically touching the ceiling of the Crescent Ballroom, to play the last few notes. It was a perfect send off that kept the energy as high as possible up until the very last moment.

The Good Neighbours fanbase is already very strong and dedicated and they will certainly continue to sell out venues around the world as they continue to tour Blue Sky Mentality and all future projects. Good Neighbours came about as a project for Scott and Oli to release music together instead of individually. That one decision allowed them to touch so many fans’ lives in such a short period of time. I am excited to see the impact they can make on the music industry, after attending just one show; Good Neighbours was magical to experience.
