ARMS LENGTH BRINGS ‘THERE’S A WHOLE WORLD OUT THERE’ TO THE STONE PONY
“Pretend the security guards aren't here, just come at us,” frontman Allen Steinberg said to the crowd before he began to strum his guitar. Crowd surfers came barreling to the front from every side of the show’s packed pit. These vibes only elevated throughout the night…that's just a snippet of what an Arm’s Length show looks like.
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Arm’s Length consists of Allen Steinberg (vocals, guitar), Jeremy Whyte (guitar, vocals) Jeff Whyte (drums) and Benjamin Greenblatt (bass guitar, vocals). The band released their debut album Never Before Seen Never Again Found in 2022 and has been moving upward ever since. Their more popular songs such as “Object Permanence,” "Tough Love" and "In Loving Memory" resonated with many people in the alternative scene, pulling more and more listeners as their music spread to the masses. Arms Length have opened for bands such as New Found Glory, Silverstein and Origami Angel on tours cementing them into the rock genre. What really stands Arm’s Length apart is the content of their lyrics, not holding back when it comes to writing about trauma and past experiences that some may not feel like they have anyone to speak to about it.
Arm’s Length played to a crowd of 850 people, their biggest show of the There’s A Whole World Out There Tour at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This historic venue has seen iconic artists like Green Day, No Doubt, Iggy Pop and is the place where Bruce Springsteen played his first ever shows. Arm’s Length has played The Stone Pony once before, opening for New Found Glory in 2022 where they were relatively new to most of the crowd. Fast forward to 2025, that same room was packed full of die-hard fans who knew every single word to the songs sung on stage, even the ones from their brand new album There's A Whole World Out There, released only a week prior to the show. The vibes in the room were electric and the love for live music was evident from the musicians on the stage to the fans in the crowd. There was not a moment of time that passed where someone wasn't singing their heart out.
The band opened their highly anticipated set with “Dirge,” the 5-minute long closing track to their previous album, making it an interesting, yet perfect choice to start the show. These lyrics were sung by not only Steinberg, but by everyone in the crowd. This energy held true the entire set, playing a mix of their older songs while still giving plenty of songs from their most recent record a chance to shine. Songs like “Fatal Flaw” and “You Ominously End” got the crowd surfers barrelling towards the stage all while a monstrous pit was opening in the center of the floor.
The band could not be happier to be playing this show, especially since this was the hometown show for Greenblatt, a New Jersey native. Arm’s Length left the stage after playing their new song “The World” and the crowd immediately began chanting for more. If it were up to the crowd (including myself), the night would’ve never ended. They listened to the roaring chants and came back out for one more song, “Overture,” which is the opening track on their first album. The crowd roared, singing the lines back to the band as loud as they could.
“I’m breaking bones / And you're signing my cast / ‘That’s exactly how you’ll wind up dead’,” Steinberg sang to the crowd to finish out the night.
