‘SEEING SIGNS’ BY NICOLE ASH LINES UP FOR AN EXCITING DEBUT EP RELEASE

At first, Nicole Ash thought the idea for her new song was “too cheesy” — after all, songs about crushes aren’t new and tend to feel childish or “lame” as she called it. But, Ash just couldn’t get the catchy lyrics out of her head and wanted a challenge.

“Seeing Signs,” released Aug. 1, speaks to all fans of 2000s pop-punk and alt rock bands and artists, tugging not only on the vibes of that era, but the nostalgic sound as well. This song acts as the first release towards her upcoming debut EP.

Originally from New Jersey, the now-North Carolinian singer and guitarist has been releasing solo music since 2022. Ash started out as the guitarist for the band Wayne Avenue, but has since been working solo. With her very first EP on the way, Ash is already getting a great start for this exciting new era, with a single that should be everyone’s song of the summer.

“Seeing Signs” sums up the crashing waves of emotion that bubble up to the surface when faced with a new infatuation. Surrounding the song are the back-and-forth feelings of wanting to be close with someone, but also not being sure of the right moves to make or if they even want you as much as you want them. These relatable feelings are laid out amongst layers of fun pop rock beats and Ash’s captivating vocals.

The track is full of lines that call back to teenage crushes and first loves.

“This is my one confession / Your smile heals my depression / So sick of reading signs / Maybe I’ve crossed your mind ... / … Am I seeing signs / that you want me?”

To anyone who’s ever experienced the tentative first moments with a new love, these lyrics will hit deep. Ash points a spotlight at the beginning of most relationships, digging deep into herself and others to find those vulnerable feelings.

Ash’s voice is uniquely beautiful, and for fans of Avril Lavigne, her vocals will strike close to the heart. With a clear tone and real emotion, “Seeing Signs” feels like a true representation of her feelings while writing the song. The switches between the quieter, beginning sound and her rich expressions in the chorus really draw the listeners in.

Check out “Seeing Signs” to prepare for Nicole Ash’s debut EP coming soon in 2025.
