MAGGIE ANDREW’S ‘HOW TO SING FOR MONEY’ IS A REFRESHING TAKE ON POP
Maggie Andrew is back with another addicting song, “How to Sing for Money,” released on May 16. With a catchy beat, captivating vocals and bewitching lyrics, Andrew knows how to make the perfect song for summer playlists. Before “How to Sing for Money,” the singer has curated an incredible career that started in 2019, full of awards and collabs, as well as a discography that caters to everyone.
“How to Sing for Money” checks all the boxes for a hit single. Singing about being a professional at profiting off of breakup pain and teaching her ex how to do the same, Andrew excels at witty lyricism. The slight sarcastic, ironic tone that carries through the whole track makes it perfect to scream along alone in your bedroom or with your friends in the car — getting every emotion out of your system.
“One, put your big boots on / Two, write a few hit songs / Three, don’t let ‘em see you sweat / Four, are you famous yet? / Five, go out and party all night / Six a.m. to catch a flight / Seven, look at your name in lights / Congratulations, I just ruined your life,” Andrew sings in the track’s bridge, which shakes the song up with a mock-cheer that encompasses the point of the song. Her upbeat attitude while mocking the subject of the song creates a fun atmosphere.

Andrew’s vocals are not something to be ignored. Her deep, powerhouse sound in the verses melds perfectly with her higher, softer tone in the chorus. Even her chanting in the bridge is infectious and helps make the song the electrifying single it is.
There’s a steady beat weaved throughout “How to Sing for Money” that features a summer-like guitar and a bright layer of drums. The beat sits just under the vocals, setting up the perfect background for Andrew’s new tune.
“How to Sing for Money” should become the next viral hit that will have everyone singing along and adding it to their rotation. The relatable track features a music video that was released the day before the song. The music video splits between Andrew singing into the camera in a recently emptied room while two men redecorate it. A crowd hears her and appears outside her house, as if she’s singing to them while she gets ready, showcasing how far her music has taken her after her heartbreak.
