Cosette reimagines “Conquest” and the hyperpop landscape
Cosette’s music exists on a little-conquered plane of musical space. While hyperpop is defined by high beats per minute (BPM), the genre is also frequently accompanied by fast paced, rap adjacent vocals and clashing electronic sounds. Instead, Cosette’s mixes incorporate the dreamy vocals of bedroom pop and similar sounds in the foreground that are balanced by the key high BPM and harmonious electronic components, creating a unique intersection of textures that are characteristic of her niche.

In a pop landscape shaped by large production teams, Cosette’s music stands out. She produces and mixes her own music, crafting sounds that are authentically and holistically her own. Her sophomore album “CONQUEST” is no exception; it is an intimate, expansive project. “CONQUEST (REMIXED)” builds on the foundation while preserving the original vision of each piece, and each collaborators brings a unique edge to the album that rounds out Cosette's sound
Released in May 2025, ”CONQUEST (REMIXED)” integrates the backgrounds and voices of hyperpop’s other rising genre disruptors, reworking the original album from December 2025. Artists including Glitch Gum, Aldrch, Ryan Leahan, Vaeo, and others are featured on the album, each of them taking a song from the original and adding their own unique layers and textures to enhance the song. This results in a kaleidoscopic reimagination of the original album, with each artist adding their own edge and individually amplifying each of Cosette’s pieces.
What’s particularly unique about this remix album is the collaborative structure — a diverse array of artists in the genre putting their own spin on Cosette’s work, some of which with multiple interpretations of the same original song. Cosette’s original songs are both fully realized, unique and independent pieces, and strong base maps for other artists to perform their own reinterpretations on, a refreshing quality to see from a woman in a space that is often male-dominated. Cosette is more than just a singer/songwriter - she is a curator of sonic dialogue.
I DO THIS FOR FUN
“I do this for fun” is an alluring opening track with strong vocals and striking synths, drawing the listener in with the hauntingly beautiful vocal and confident lyricism. Between lyrics unveiling confidence and quiet strength, Cosette’ launches into the strong, confident side of “CONQUEST.” The song’s lyricism pairs wit and bold delivery, which is further emphasized by the hyperpop production in the background on the track, creating a positive, yet intriguing opener for the album.
“I do this for fun” has two interpretations on the remixed album, one from New York based singer and producer Ryan Leahan and another from the Indian-American band NaturoSynth. Leahan’s sound and vision lends beautifully to the tones and production of “I do this for fun” and effortlessly puts a high energy, vibrant spin on it. His supplementary vocals augments the dimension of the song and adds an extra layer of personality without detracting from Cosette’s original voice. Conversely, NaturoSynth’s reimagination of the song is in a different direction — this remix strips the song back and incorporates more lo-fi inspired beats to the production to create a more chill, but functionally similar version of the song. Both remixes are unique reiterations of the original track that put their own spin on the music while preserving the Tennessee-rooted touch Cosette brings to hyperpop.
WAIT
The second track off of the album, “Wait,” is a beautiful, hazy song that incorporates emotional composition of pop and alternative-pop influences while maintaining the pulsing, rhythm driven narrative hyperpop creates. The strong beats and repetition incorporated to the dreamy, sometimes distorted vocals craft a beautiful track. Cosette and Elise Kosco trade verses and sing together in almost a conservational way, providing an extra textural element that adds to the complex topics of jealousy and emotional intimacy found in the song. As such, “Wait,” clearly captured the emotional complexity of waiting for clarity in a relationship through Cosette’s unique sonic universe.
Atlanta based hyperpop artist Vaeo’s take on “Wait” is a direct reimagination of the entire song; mixing the song in a faster tempo, stronger rhythm and even inserting his own singing of Cosette’ lyrics, he makes the song entirely his own. Veo injects “Wait” with his own creative expression while utilizing Cosette’s original song as a template, turning the emotional core of the song into a fast paced, genre-ambiguous, distinctive version
CARE
This track is one of the most upbeat moments on “CONQUEST,” blending the classic structure of pop songs and playful, talkative banter in the middle of the song with youthful hyperpop mixes and glitchy layers. The production is not overpowering but still holds a level of strength, using warped synths and sharp beats to blend beautifully with the blurred out, dreamy vocals in the track
“Care” also features two contrasting artists creating their own, individual remixes of the song - both of which, despite the differences, are equally authentic and true to the heart of the original song. 23-year-old multimedia artist Huron John’s mix leans into the upbeat aspects of the song, emphasizing the heightened tempo and strong instrumentation while preserving Cosette’s lyricism in its entirety. All of the lyricism is preserved, but the sound is different: faster. savesomeone’s remix, on the other hand, dives straight into glitchcore, incorporating heavy based, distorted sounds and warped, glitchy textures. The heart of the original tracks shines through in little interludes throughout, where the production softens and highlights Cosette’s vocals, the calm in the chaos. Similarly, hyperpop artist savesomeone reimagined the song in a bold, edgier context that preserves the original vision but highlights it through a distorted lens, integrating classic distortion and sharp-edged sounds.
GUMS
Cosette’s “Gums” is another vocally rich, nostalgia-ridden poetic track on the album. The lyricism relies on compiling little moments between the singer and the object of her affection, noting late night drives, seasons passing together, and intimate conversations, and turning these mundane moments into a heartbreaking, emotional ballad that is amplified by the hyperpop background sounds that Cosette has mixed together, The song’s soft production and wistful lyrical repetition mirror the feeling of replaying those moments over and over again in your head, especially when they’re gone.
“Gums” also got a double rework on “Conquest (Remixed)”. Nashville-based singer and producer Glitch Gum infused his signature glitchcore influences into “Gums,” a playful nod to his own name and sound. This remix is a fan favorite, amassing the most streams off the whole remix album — and for good reason. The glitchy textures blend harmoniously with Cosette’s ethereal voice and emotionally charged vocals, in a dichotomous blend that celebrates the chaos often found in hyperpop while remaining authentic to her own vision. Meanwhile, 440 West, an up and coming producer, brings about an alternative-pop edge to the song in his remix; the incorporation of his own backing vocals, punchy beats and sparkling synths. The resulting track emphasizes momentum and unique sounds over lyrical storytelling, evoking Cosette’s musical vision with a playful twist through rhythm.
RAIN
The beginning of “Rain’ transitions seamlessly from the previous track with the use of sparkling synths, blending the sounds together. “Rain” is arguably the most melodious song of the album, utilizing effervescent sounds and reverberating echoes in the background to amplify a vocal oriented piece. At its core, “Rain” is about the emotionally tumultuous condition of a fragile relationship navigating the desire for control over the partnership. It is in this track, where Cosette sings “This time I'm gonna win / Oh, this time I'll conquest him,” signifying not only her desire for control in the trajectory of her future with her partner, but boldly cements the reclamation of her narrative.
New York based musical producer and DJ Aldrich created an atmospheric remix of “Rain,” preserving not only the importance of the song, but in turn, the album itself. Aldrich’s remix utilizes much of the same initial production as the original, but injects the song with his signature, industrial tone. The utilization of glitchy vocals, darker synths, and heavy electronic beats brings a new edge to the song that feels like the other side of the same coin. As such, Cosette’s voice on the song takes a whole new grittier angle- strong, determined, amplifying the message in the original. This version of “Rain,” is more than a remix, but a second perspective, evoking a whole new set of emotions that still ring true to the context of the original song.
GOD MINDED
“god minded” is the perfect close to the album. The emotionally saturated vocals, soft synths, and devastating lyricism all culminate in the perfect close to the album. “god minded” tangibly conveys the unique, quiet sadness that comes from grieving someone who has already left. The repetition of “I asked God to remove you from my mind, but he never did” transcends religious connotation and results in a universally relatable experience that only time can heal. The production of “god minded” is the most raw in production, allowing the lyrics to shine through and the emotion to drip out of the song authentically.
Korean-American artist Joon’s remix of “god minded” adds a beautiful spin to the original while remaining very authentic to Cosette’s sound. While the production of the song is amped up with soft percussion and electronic components, the music remains in the background, allowing the dreamy vocals to encapsulate the foreground and remain the focus. The remix furthers the repetitive nature of the original, particularly with the lyrics “Gonna be honest, nothing I do feels important / Hittin' the town, hopin' you'll notice / See your brand new girl and think she's gorgeous.” The remix shifts the focus from the feeling of helplessness when grieving a past relationship to the earth shattering feeling of vulnerability and loss of identity that results from loss of any kind, a deeply relatable form of the human condition. “god minded,” in both versions is the perfect album closer for this reason; it leaves you sitting in emotional vulnerability — right where Cosette wants you.
“CONQUEST” already stood out as a bold, vulnerable, hypnotically beautiful album individually, but “CONQUEST (REMIXED)” pushes it further, enhancing the community of hyperpop artists and their diversity within the genre while highlighting the strengths of Cosette's sound and production. Hearing artists from different backgrounds with different interpretations of hyperpop music project their own sound onto the album made for a stunning culmination of sounds. The remixes expand the reach of the original album and situates Cosette as a talented producer with both technical range and adaptability and a niche, unique sonic identity.
